The Dalmatian coast

Yesterday we drove for 10 hours by bus, winding our way past beautiful coves and beaches, little villages, yacht basin after yacht basin, sunbathers and children on little boats, houses with Bougainvillea's and more.

The landscape is one stone mansion. Ancient stone walls are scattered in the fields and millions of olive trees, ancient as well, cling on for survival. Every where is fragments of war. Abandoned houses, shelled walls, the evidence a reminder of Croatia's fight for independence.

Finally we arrived in Dubrovnik, a spectacular entrance, as a massive luxury ocean liner was leaving the city.
We bargained for our accommodation at the bus station. People with notices that read Zimmer, Rooms were there to meet us. We made a good choice and spend the night in comfy beds with a decent bathroom.
