Inspiration comes from all the spring blossoms. We mostly see wine red roses everywhere, and their perfume drift down the streets. It's hot here, around 29 degrees Celcius.

Ornate par excellence!
The auntie is so inspired by the Revival Houses and the tradition of rich, ornate decoration that she is going to dolly up her peppermint palace even more.
The houses, richly ornamented, with rooms covered in floral murals, decorated facades, and ornate hand carved wooden ceilings, painted here and there with touches of gold are awesomely over the top!
I have a job when I get home to add garlands of flowers and roses to the exterior walls that I will cut out of Polystyrene and paint with white and gold, and to gild the already existing rynolite rosettes inside her Palace.
We walked into a restaurant that was preparing for a wedding and could not believe the table settings, the decoration and the absolute dedication to what some of us would think are extremely kitsch!
Dad was so impressed with the way they insulate the old houses here. Styrofoam tiles get glued onto the exterior of old buildings and then get plastered over. What an ingenious way to resolve an insulation problem.

The colour red
The colour red permeates the life of the people in the Balkans; icon red, communist red, roses red, architectural red, tomato red, painter's red, apron red, floral red, red houses red...endless red everywhere!
Red, the colour of passion and anger, is totally integrated into the daily reality of the Balkans. Houses, buildings, museums, are painted in hues of red and on the streets people, men and woman, are not shy to wear it! Billboards and signage are often in red!
Red, pulsating through the veins of Bulgaria, is passionately expressed everywhere!

Technicalities reworked!!! Take note
A lot of my friends and followers ask me how to post a comment!
Instructions:-
Place your cursor on the block that's says 'post a comment' and enter.
Place your cursor in the white block that appears and start typing.
Then...
this is from my friend Flo "When you select profile it gives you different options/ways as to how to register and log-in. Luckily I have a Gmail account so I used the 'Google' option and it worked (I was prompted to log into my Gmail first) - it also gave me the option to attach a picture to my comment which did not work when I tried it. To be honest I have no idea what the rest of the options are - LiveJournal, Wordpress, TypePad, AIM and OpenID. Probably different types of blog submitting comments facility set-ups."
Then you "PUBLISH"
That's it!
Hope it works this time! Seems that it works if you have a Gmail address!
Good luck!
Okidoki!!!

For Florence
Florence is my Bulgarian friend in South Africa. When I first met her I thought that she was the most beautiful woman in the world, that I personally know. She has a Sophia Loren quality about her. In her home town Plovdiv (the old city of Philippolis)
we see many beauties around. All perfectly manicured and made up and dressed to the nines.
On the streets are designer upon designer, mom and I bought fabulous outfits for a song! And flowers bloom everywhere, on clothes, on furniture, on billboards. The Bulgarians are fabulous people, funny and happy and full of life! I suppose now that they are free from oppression they have a lot to celebrate.
We meet Bulgarian Greeks and their view about Greece is that the country is bankrupt, but the Greeks themselves have plenty of money!
The Bulgarians cannot believe we are from South Africa, nor can they believe that we are white! We even made it onto National TV, because we are the first white South Africans they have met here in Plovdiv! Weird!!! They all want to know who our ancestors were, seeing that we all fell out of a milk carton! Mom fell out of a beer bottle, she is so upset about this comment, Sy sê: "nou hou sy sommer net hier op met drink!" Mom feels at home because everyone is drinking beer and coffee and not a lot of wine! We go for lunch and the waiter is sooooo excited because his restaurant keeps the best wine in the world! A whole range of South African wines, he says that the wines are very popular with the Bulgarians.
We cannot believe the difference between Greece and Bulgaria! Here the shops are open till 8 pm and in Greece shops close at 2 pm. The streets are teeming with life.
This lot smokes like hell!! Everybody smokes, young and old, men and woman, and very few restaurants have a non smoking section. I saw an advertisement on a tree for smoke enders!
